Politics and Chemicals?

Chemistry

Today I spent some time reading the major news outlets’ websites. I enjoy reading political news and opinions from both sides. I do not, however, enjoy reading the comments.

Ok. Maybe sometimes. Some are quite thoughtful and insightful. Some are ridiculous enough to be entertaining.

And some are just rude.

Really, people. Not everything is black or white. Heaven or hell. Good or bad. I do not care which side you are on. Stop demonizing the people with whom you do not agree. Start listening. Make a sincere attempt to understand their perspective. Not with the goal of agreeing, just understanding. Most people have reasons why they think, feel, and act as they do.

Oh, I see. They would never listen to you. Guess what? I don’t care. If they won’t listen, you do it anyway. Be the better person.

The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed. ~Carl Jung
